How to Fix Calcium Buildup on Faucets

We’ve all experienced those annoying, cloudy calcium buildup around our faucets. Calcium buildup is harmless, but they aren’t the prettiest to look at. Follow these three tips on how to remove calcium buildup!

3 Ways to Remove Calcium Buildup on Faucets

  • Use Citrus: The acid in citruses, such as lemon or lime, can be used to help break down some of the calcium buildup left on your faucets. All you have to do is rub a wedge of citrus over the affected areas and let it sit to give the acid time to dissolve the calcium buildup!
  • Use Vinegar: Vinegar is a great natural cleaning agent! For this method, soak a cloth in vinegar, lay it over the affected area, and let it sit for several hours. After the wait, you should be able to scrub the calcium buildup away! You can use a minimal amount of baking soda and wash away the calcium deposit for extra scrubbing power.
  • Use bathroom cleaning chemicals: If the natural methods do not work, you can try cleaning chemicals and scrubbing. With this method, remember to wipe down all of your surfaces repeatedly after you finish cleaning!

How to Prevent Calcium Buildup on Faucets

The best way to get rid of calcium buildup is to prevent it in the first place. If you are struggling with calcium buildup, you may want to look into installing a water softener or make sure your current water softener is functioning correctly.
