Hiring a plumber takes the pressure off of you as they are there to handle your plumbing needs. However, many people are not sure what they need to do to prepare for their visit from the plumber, what they should do while the plumber is there, and what should be done afterwards. Read on to get answers to these and other questions.
What to Do Before Your Plumber Gets There
First and foremost, make sure you have done your research to find the best plumber. Once you have done that, carefully consider what you have called them for. While you may be calling for a garbage disposal issue, if you have other issues you may as well have them looked at. For example, do you have a toilet that’s always leaking? Are you dealing with a slow running toilet? Do you want to find out how you might be able to upgrade your sink?
Before we get to your home, it’s helpful if you have the area we’ll be working in clean and clear. This makes it easier for us to get our gear in and get started right away. We may need to access your main water line (depending on why we are coming) so it’s wise to know where it is so we don’t have to spend half an hour finding it.
What to Do While Your Plumber is There
Communicate and let your plumber know if there is any information that may be relevant to the task they are working on. Give us as many details as you can – you may be surprised by how helpful it can be. If you have pets or kids, try to keep them away from your plumber as much as possible. While it is true that they can get in the way, the bigger issue is that they can potentially be put in danger.
If you have questions while we are there, please feel free to ask them. We know you are not an expert in the world of plumbing – that’s why you’ve called us! We are happy to give you all the information you need to make the most informed decisions and to fully understand your options.
What to Do After Your Plumber Leaves
If you are given information that may be relevant in the future, write it down. You can always call us if you need additional info, but it may be helpful for you to have information written down. Keep an eye on the area that’s been worked on and let us know right away if there are any issues. We stand behind our work and if you are not happy with it, for any reason, then we want to make it right.
